Free Level 2 NCFE CACHE Certificate in Understanding Autism
There are around 700,000 autistic people in the UK – more than 1 in every 100. If you work with autistic people, or if someone you know is autistic, this course is a great way to increase your knowledge about the condition.
You will learn about autism and how it can affect the ways people communicate, interact and process information. You’ll learn how to support autistic people to live healthy, fulfilled lives.
This course will allow you to be free to study when, where and how you choose, and the speed that is right for you.
Course Level Guidance for Understanding Autism.
Level 2 courses are equivalent to GCSE (grades 9-4 or A*-C)
Level 3 courses are equivalent to A Levels
What you’ll learn on Understanding Autism
- Learn how autistic people process sensory information.
- Understand the characteristics that may be present in autistic individuals.
- Understand the conditions that commonly occur with autism.
- Learn the common misconceptions surrounding autism.
- Learn how speech, language and communication may differ in autistic people.
- Recognise how legislation and guidance underpin support.

As a Foster Carer, you will gain an NCFE CACHE assessed and awarded a level 2 certificate in Understanding Autism, which will count towards your CPD and training requirements. This level 2 certificate in Understanding Autism course is funded by AEB/ESF Funding.

How you’ll learn
You have the flexibility to complete the course in your own time online in the comfort of your own home. You’ll also have an assigned, qualified tutor who will support and guide you throughout your course.
You will work through your online learning materials to complete an assessment. The assessment consists of questions that you must answer and submit to your tutor for marking.
Your tutor will mark your assessment, giving you feedback on each answer once you have completed all the units that make up your qualification you will be issued with your certificate.
